PRACTICE HISTORY AND MISSION STATEMENT

There has been a doctors' surgery at this site since 1965 and the centre aims to provide the highest standards of modern practice while retaining the best of traditional family medicine. Thus we hope you feel you have a doctor whom you 'normally' consult, while at the same time are equally happy to see an alternative doctor if your own is not available.

The practice is kept deliberately small enough for all four doctors to be reasonably acquainted with the problems of most patients and see all important hospital letters and reports on all the patients. You will not normally have to consult a complete stranger if your own doctor is away or overbooked. We try to be available and do our utmost to make it possible for you to get an appointment without delay. So that we can plan our surgeries and fit in urgent cases speedily, please make routine review appointments well in advance wherever possible. This however does put some responsibility back to you, the patient, not to abuse this principle by insisting on urgent appointments when not really necessary. To help us keep to time, please arrive on time for your appointment and let us know if you are delayed. Please cancel an appointment that you cannot keep rather than fail to turn up without warning. Separate appointments are needed for each member of your family who is to be seen; please ask for more time with the doctor if this is required.

It would be appreciated if you understand that sometimes a delay is unavoidable: this could be due to the doctor being called out for an emergency visit and when this happens we will try to keep you informed.
